From 12 March to 6 April 1930, Mahatma Gandhi led a 24-day march from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi. The campaign used nonviolent protest and tax resistance to challenge the British salt monopoly. At Dandi, Gandhi broke the salt law by collecting salt, inspiring wider civil disobedience across India.
